Exploration: Europeans set out to explore trade routes
Students, examine both videos attached to this Blog Assignment. After viewing both videos, write a brief paragraph to summarize the following questions: 1) Who was Prince Henry the Navigator and what were some of the goals he wanted to accomplish, 2) What inventions assisted the explorers in their journeys and how, 3) Who were the Spanish explorers and what were they seeking to discover, 4) What areas did the conquistadors explore, 5) How many sailors traveled with Columbus and why do you "THINK" they did not receive credit with the discovery of the New World, 6) Name Columbus ships and how effective did they travel?

1.His goal was to find a route to the rich spice trade of the Indies and to explore the west coast of Africa. The ships that sailed the Mediterranean were too slow and too heavy to make these voyages. Under his direction, a new and lighter ship was developed, the caravel, which would allow sea captains to sail further and faster.
From my understanding Prince Henry was a navagitor and the gols he wanted to accoplish was find new trade groups in africa. The Caravel was the invention he invented to travel faster and further. The spanish expolorers were Vasco Nùñez de Balboa,Hernando Cortez,Francisco Coronado,Francisco Pizarro, and Hernando De Soto they were looking for gold,new land and fortunes. The conquistadors expolored the coasts of florida all the way to the coast of california. I think around 200 saliors travled with columbus to sail the other ships and i believe that they other sailors didn't take credit for the New world because maybe they didn't want to have the responisbilites that would come with it, or they didn't really care much about who found it they were just grateful to columbus because he invited them and asked for their help. Columbus's ships were called the Pinta, And Santa Maria which carried cargo and other items and also the Nina which was the ship for traveling it too you where you needed to go faster and sailed further.
